A recent report has just been published titled “Lost,Not Stolen – The Conservative Case that Trump Lost and Biden Won the 2020 Presidential Election, July 2022.” Apparently the case is claimed to be conservatives because its writers include a couple of former Republican Senators and several “Honorables”.
The report can be downloaded at https://lostnotstolen.org
On the surface, the report appears to be very well researched and extensive. It provides excellent cover to those who claim the election was fair. Their twitter account has the followers that read like the media who’s who, including NPR.
But here’s the problem:
Most of the evidence cited by the report consists of court cases, almost all of which went against the allegations of a fraudulent election. As of January 2020, a report published on The Gateway Pundit examined the court cases:
BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: Accurate List of 2020 Election Fraud Cases Shows 81 Cases Total, 30 Still Active – And NOT ONE SINGLE COURT Has Allowed Evidence to be Argued by Joe Hoft
The cases were not successful mostly because 1) Courts ruled the plaintiffs lacked standing, or 2) Judges, who were not experts in forensic analysis, asserted the evidence was not sufficient.
Several GOP election observers, who wrote affidavits under penalty of perjury, stated they were prevented from observing the vote counting. Observers also stated at around midnight, the counting paused or proceded slowly with totals manipulated. These election observers stated they were never even interviewed by the FBI, suggesting the FBI did not look very hard, if at all, into the allegations.
The Gateway Pundit article is dated, but evidence presented in the current report indicate some allegations were considered in court cases, but were considered unsubstantiated.
The Root of the Problem
The evidence being unsubstantiated goes to the root of the problem. Some election workers have denied any wrongdoing, so court cases that included the allegations of vote tampering would be inconclusive. If the FBI had seriously investigated the allegations, they would have done what law enforcement folks typically do. Specifically, they offer leniency or immunity to the first or lowest ranking workers to encourage them to tell the truth, and they generally determine exactly what might have happened.
So despite the elaborate detail that went into the report, the fact remains the claims of a stolen election have not been debunked. Any future commission examining the whole sordid mess would have to use the techniques of legitimate law enforcement and subpoenas, provided the statute of limitations has not expired. In any event, both the election and the FBI merit thorough examination.
